Research, Planning and Development Office

Rationale
          It has been an accepted fact that Research is the means of support of every higher education institution. It is a means to realize a higher education institution’s goal of superiority. Research in the College shall generally support and enhance instruction and community extension services and production. As one of the quadruple functions of every Higher Education, it is expected that the research outputs produce new knowledge relative to science and society.
          Columban College, both as a mature institution of higher learning and as the seedbed of excellence not only in Zambales but also in the country, through its Research, Planning and Development Office (RPDO) is expected to produce quality researches and research journal publication; to set direction for the attainment of CC’s vision, mission and goals; and to initiate changes for the growth and development of the entire institution towards global excellence. It is highly expected that in these more years to come the RPDO will generate and contribute a lot of new knowledge to the global society.
          The CC-RPDO, finds itself at center stage as the College Unit’s support in:  establishing a culture of research by providing research leadership, policy direction and the avenues/opportunities where research needs of faculty members/ personnel may be met; involving faculty members/ personnel in audit/program reviews; periodically reviewing research incentives that may be given to deserving faculty members/ personnel; and publishing research outputs of faculty members/ personnel and students both in the undergraduate and graduate level. At the same time, RPDO shall be the arm of the institution in attaining academic global excellence through research and planning. 
Vision
          The CC-Research, Planning and Development Office envisions to be the prime mover towards research and academic excellence which will cultivate creativity and innovativeness to meet the challenges and constraints in education responsive to global society.
Mission
          The CC-Research, Planning and Development Office geared itself in developing a strong research culture and capabilities, in producing quality researches and journal publications along the forefront of general education and various disciplines; in planning and leading towards improved school management and curriculum; and in facilitating social transformation relevant to global needs inspired by Catholic faith and Filipino culture.
Goals
The CC-Research, Planning and Development Office shall:
1.  promote and strengthen the culture of research among faculty and students;
2.  direct and focus both basic and applied research in support to national and global society;
3.  support to improve instruction in the various disciplines, production and extension services;
4.  encourage creativity and innovativeness among members of the academic community;
5.  assist the college in income generation and cost–cutting measures;
6.  assist in the conduct of research for the sustainable development of the nation.
7.  assist in revising and updating all curricular offerings towards a competency-based curriculum.
8.  establish local and national linkages and develop a mutually beneficial partnerships with NGO’s and GO’s; and
9.  disseminate quality research outputs through publication in journals and/or internet website.
